How to Detect If Someone Is Following You — And What to Do About It
You don’t have to be a high-profile target to be followed. Stalking, harassment, and criminal surveillance happen to ordinary people every day.
Signs you may be under surveillance:
The same person or vehicle appearing multiple times in different locations.
Someone lingering near you without a clear purpose.
A vehicle matching your lane changes and turns more than once.
The same social media account viewing or interacting with all your posts quickly after they go up.
If you suspect you’re being followed:
Stay in public areas with other people.
Don’t confront the person — it escalates risk.
Change direction or routes to see if they adapt.
Enter a safe location (store, police station, etc.) and call for help.
Document details discreetly — license plates, descriptions, times.
Awareness buys you time — and time gives you options.
