The Family Privacy Audit: How to See What Strangers Can Find About You

If someone wanted to find you, what could they discover in 15 minutes?
Most families never ask that question — until something happens.

How to run your own privacy audit:

  1. Search your full name with your city/state — check the first 3 pages of results.

  2. Search your phone number — see if it links to addresses or profiles.

  3. Search your home address — note any property records, maps, or past listings.

  4. Check image searches for photos tied to your name.

  5. Look for family member profiles and connections that reveal relationships.

Closing the gaps:

  • Request removal from data broker sites.

  • Delete old accounts you no longer use.

  • Adjust privacy settings on active accounts.

  • Use PO boxes or registered agents for non-personal deliveries and records.

If you don’t know what’s visible, you can’t control who sees it.
